About the role
This is a permanent full time position working 38 hours per week with a 9 day fortnight at the Bombaderry Works Depot.

This role contributes to the maintenance and improvement of Council assets through the operation of major plant items used to undertake maintenance and minor construction activities as well as supporting the day to day operations of the Works and Services Department. Our Works & Services team is divided in four districts that service the needs of 110,000 residents, covering an area of 4,500km squared and maintaintaining 1,800km of public roads as well as providing high levels of support to our community during emergencies.

Duties
Reporting directly to the Team Supervisor – Traffic Facilities & Basin Construction, the focus of this position is to:

  • Operate and maintain plant items, hand tools, machines and vehicles
  • Undertake manual tasks such as shovelling, digging, screeding, landscaping, lifting, mowing etc.
  • Ensure that works are compliant with relevant legislation and Council policies to minimize risk
  • Assist in Council responses to emergencies and other operational needs

Skills & Experience
To be successful in the position, you will have:

  • School Certificate level education or equivalent
  • Demonstrated experience in operating major plant such as backhoe, dozer / compactor, excavator, front end loader, tractor, grader, street sweeper, water tanker, garbage compactor or equivalent
  • Demonstrated experience in civil construction and/or maintenance activities.
  • Current RMS Issued Traffic Control or SafeWork NSW Traffic Control Work Training Cards – ‘Traffic controller’ and ‘Implement traffic control plans
  • Current General Construction Induction Card (White Card)
  • Class HR Licence
