Passionate about preserving stories from the past and connecting communities with their heritage? We are seeking a dedicated Local History Officer to join our library team and play an integral role in curating, maintaining and promoting Local History collections!
As the Library Local History officer, you will be accountable for the coordination and provision of effective Library Services that prioritises high-quality customer experience and the delivery of contemporary collection services that promote lifelong learning, community strengthening and celebration of the Barossa region’s rich history. You will join and contribute to a collaborative, progressive team dedicated to delivering high-quality Library services to the community.
To be successful you will need:
- Knowledge of the statutory requirements relevant to Library Services.
- Demonstrated knowledge of contemporary library services.
- Demonstrated knowledge and sound understanding of issues and processes involved in local history collection management and customer service.
- Knowledge of local history resources and with the ability to deliver programs
- Exceptional customer service skills with knowledge of customer service principles as they apply to Council and the Library.
- Established ICT skills with basic trouble shooting ability and knowledge of the internet, social media and office equipment.
- Knowledge of Local Government and relevant provisions of the Local Government Act and Council By-Laws.
- Knowledge of the Council region and its services.
This position is a 12-month fixed term part-time (0.63FTE) contract which offers the opportunity to join a forward-thinking organisation where your contribution will be recognised and valued. This position is offered at General Officer Level 4 ($90,319.66 - $96,693.99 pro rata for part time positions) in accordance with The Barossa Council’s Enterprise Agreement 2025.

Essential position requirements
- This position requires you to hold and provide evidence of a current and valid Working with Children Check (WWCC) before being appointed to the position.
