Shellharbour City Council have an exciting opportunity for a Library Assistant to work in our award-winning City Library in a temporary 12-month part-time position. 

This role provides welcoming library and museum experiences to a diverse range of customers. You will add value to the customer experience by promoting library resources, programs and technology in a friendly and engaging way.

We are also looking for Casual Library Assistants to join our team. As a casual, you will have the opportunity to work across all our libraries including the award-winning City Library, Warilla Library and Oak Flats Library.

  • Part-time temporary 12-month parental leave cover contract position, 20 hours per week (across four days)
  • Commencing salary range from $619.25 - $657.15 per week (dependent on qualifications and experience) 
  • 11.5% superannuation

  • Access to local government benefits such as; LSL after five years, three weeks sick leave per annum, Fitness Passport, Provident Fund activities etc.  

Casual Library Assistant positions are also available:

  • Working a variety of shifts, Monday to Sunday across all 5 libraries
  • Commencing salary from $38.70 per hour (inclusive of casual loading)
  • Plus 11.5% superannuation
  • Penalties are paid in addition to the ordinary hourly rate of pay for Saturday/Sunday work

Please note that this position requires a current Working with Children Check clearance in accordance with the Child Protection (Working with Children) Act 2012 for paid workers.
