About the Opportunity

The ICT Project Officer is responsible for providing administrative and operational support to Councils IT-related projects. This role involves assisting with project planning, monitoring project progress, coordinating resources, and facilitating effective communication among team members and stakeholders. The ICT Project Officer plays a crucial role in ensuring projects are delivered on time, within budget, and meet the defined objectives.

The ICT Project Officer supports the IT and Assets team in delivering a range of services that contribute to the delivery of the City of Palmerston Community Plan, including:

  • Networks and Corporate applications
  • Service Desk and Help Desk
  • Digital and Information Strategies
  • Information Technology (IT)
  • Communications Systems
  • CCTV
  • Software Infrastructure
  • ICT Security and Disaster Recovery

You will administer and support the operations of City of Palmerston's Information Technology Systems and Network while ensuring high quality customer service to all stakeholders and first line technical support and troubleshooting to system/software users.

About You

You will be experienced, well organised, personable and able to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment.

In addition, you will have the following:

  • Relevant degree or at least five years of relevant experience, with a demonstrated commitment to ongoing professional development.
  • Certification in project management (e.g. PMP, Prince2, or Agile)
  • Experience working in information and technology fields, emphasising innovation and compliance with legislative requirements and industry standards.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage the planning, coordination, delivery and evaluation of services, projects, and programs across the areas of responsibility.
  • Demonstrated competency in ICT management, configuration, procurement and maintenance.
  • A focus on achieving customer-centric results, with an ability to establish clear, specific goals and objectives and to monitor progress towards those ends, taking corrective action as necessary.
  • Strong organisational and time management skills, with the ability to prioritise tasks and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to interact effectively with team members and stakeholders at all levels.
  • Proficiency in project management tools and software.
  • Solid understanding of project management principles, methodologies, and best practices.
  • Attention to detail and a commitment to delivering high-quality work.
  • Analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to identify issues and propose solutions.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team-oriented environment.
  • Knowledge of relevant industry standards and regulations (if applicable).
