How you’ll make a difference
Victoria Daly Regional Council is looking for a full-time Human Resources Manager based in Katherine, NT.
This role is pivotal in the management and the delivery of Human Resource and Industrial Relations services to all employees of the Victoria Daly Regional Council.
More specifically, your responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Manage and implement HR strategies and initiatives aligned with the overall objectives of the Council.
- Provide high level human resource advice and guidance to the Executive, senior management and staff on employee and case management issues.
- Manage and support matters in writing or verbally in relation to Industrial relations matters.
- Provide proactive advice to Managers and employees to mitigate the risk of industrial disputes and to ensure compliance.
- Represent Council through consultation and negotiations with unions and management of Industrial Relations matters with all external stakeholders.
- Manage and support the Human Resources team to achieve positive outcomes that benefit the Council in recruiting, retention, employee relations and development.
- Work with the Executive and Senior Managers to identify, develop and implement solutions across a range of HR functions including, workforce planning, managing performance and employee relations, organisational and staff development.
- Manage employee relations across the Council by addressing demands, grievances and other employee related issues.
- Develop and implement HR & IR strategies, policies and processes effectively across our regional that are fit for purpose.

What you’ll bring to the team
To qualify, candidates will need proven knowledge and experience in human resource management and industrial relations, including the ability to represent the Council through consultations and negotiations, as well as demonstrated employee relations. Specific Human Resouces or Industrial Relations qualifications are essential, with extensive experience in these fields.
Additionally, you will join with the following skills and background:
- Ability to effectively deliver services in an ever-changing environment
- The ability to work autonomously and as part of a cohesive team
- High-level correspondence and report writing
- Software proficiency
- Knowledge of procurement practices and legislative requirements
- Ability and willingness to travel to remote communities
- Work Health & Safety understanding
