About the role:

Reporting to the Horticulture Leading Hand, and based at the City’s Works Depot in Barlee Street, Busselton, the Horticulture Technician provides expert industry knowledge and skills to assist in the design, establishment and maintenance of the City’s parks, gardens and reserves in accordance with established City of Busselton policies and procedures.

The person:

The successful applicant will align with our values and have the following skills and experience:

  • Certificate IV in Horticulture.
  • Advanced understanding of horticultural maintenance practices and techniques.
  • Advanced understanding of pests and pesticides.
  • Recognised qualification in chemical handling/application.
  • Chainsaw certificate of competency.
  • Experience in nursery management practices.
  • Accreditation in Basic Worksite Traffic Management and Traffic Control.
  • Supervisory capability.
  • Strong communication skills.

An understanding of Work Health and Safety in the workplace, particularly as it relates to the horticulture industry, would be valuable.

The successful applicant will also need a ‘MR’ Class Driver’s Licence, the ability to obtain a HR licence and be able to provide a National Police Clearance no more than 6 months old.
