Graduate Engineering Officer (Ref: 1348)

About the position:

This position provides engineering support across the Infrastructure Services department with a focus on engineering investigations, roads in compliance with MRWA guidelines to regional road network and asset management, capital works, and asset creation proposals, including funding applications.  The role will also assist with civil design, drafting and estimating, and sustainability and environment initiatives.

The Graduate Engineering Officer will gain exposure to many aspects of the infrastructure life cycle, including initial investigations, inception, planning, design and construction and maintenance of infrastructure including roads, paths and drainage systems.

Key accountabilities:

  • Provide technical and engineering support to the Infrastructure Services department including site inspections, engineering investigations, feasibility studies, risk assessments, asset management and submiting written reports.
  • Liaising with MRWA, WaterCorp, MidWest Port, and other organisations related to their needs and City development project needs.
  • Assist members of the public with engineering and safety related enquires.
  • Support the engineering team in resloving any engineering issues as required.
  • Assist in the delivery of infrastructure and sustainability strategies.
  • Assist with investigations to support the preparation of infrastructure grant applications including: Regional Bicycle Network, Recreational Boating Facilities Scheme, and road project grants.

Position requirements:

The successful applicant will ideally hold a Diploma, advance Diploma or progressing towards a Degree in Civil Engineering/Design or a related discipline. Applicants with significant experience in the design and preparation of civil drawings in 12D and/or AutoCAD including project cost estimating will also be considered.

Completion of a pre-employment medical including alcohol and other substances testing is required of all positions at the City.

Remuneration and benefits:

A salary range between $72,450 – $82,745 per annum will be offered dependent on the knowledge, skills, experience and qualifications of the successful candidate as it relates to the requirements of the position.
