Gwydir Shire Council is currently inviting applications from
suitably qualified and experienced candidates for these vacant positions.

GIS (Geographical
Information System) Officer

The GIS Officer plays a key role in providing mapping and analysis
services to the organisation and supporting the community through spatial data
creation, management, analysis, and map production.

This position requires collaboration with internal business units
to enhance their operations and maximize the use of Geographic Information
Systems (GIS) throughout the Council. The role involves supporting all staff,
including operational personnel, in their use of GIS and mobility applications.

The ideal candidate will possess:

·
Tertiary qualifications in Spatial Information Systems, GIS, asset
management, or a related field

·
Experience with GIS software, mobility tools, and providing
technical analytical support.

·
Proven experience in maintaining core GIS data, such as land
records, asset registers, and local government systems like work orders and
capital works.

·
Proficiency in spatial modelling and data analysis

·
Ability to train users in GIS tools, produce high-quality maps,
and present information effectively.

·
Advanced written and verbal communication skills

·
Ability to work effectively as part of a team, contribute to team
goals, explain technical concepts, and meet deadlines.

·
Self-motivated with a demonstrated ability to learn new skills
independently and work without direct supervision.

·
Willingness to undertake additional duties as directed by the supervisor.

·
A valid Class C driver’s license
