Roper Gulf Regional Council is seeking a suitably experienced candidate to join our Finance Team based in Katherine, NT.

In this role, you will assist in providing an accurate and efficient financial accounting service to Council. Providing a high-quality professional support to the Senior Finance Officers, you will possess strong teamwork skills and the ability to deal with competing deadlines. The position exists within a fast paced, customer-oriented environment, and will require experience in the provision of effective customer service.

Reporting to the Finance Manager, your duties include (but are not limited to):

• Assisting in developing best practice systems and improving existing processes within the Corporate Services and Sustainability directorate.
• Reviewing and performing payment run for travel and expense reimbursement claims.
• Assisting in processing payroll-related transactions.
• Assisting with regular reconciliations of bank account transactions to the general ledger.
• Facilitating positive and stable relationships with debtors, funding agencies and other stakeholders.

To be successful in this role, you will hold a Certificate IV or higher in Accounting or Financial Management. Previous experience in Accounting/Bookkeeping function or similar, with at least (2) years’ experience will be highly regarded. Ideally, you will have knowledge of accounting practices and procedures relating to Local Government, but not essential.

Depending on qualifications and experience, the successful candidate will be rewarded with a salary ranging from $66,106 - $72,636 per annum plus Superannuation.
