An important & vital role within Walcha Council, the successful applicant will administer our Rates & Water billing, in addition to accounts payable, and account reconciliation. The Position
This is a permanent full-time position and will help us maintain and improve our finance systems and team delivery. You will use your finance skills & experience to maintain and improve our various finance functions, in close collaboration with the Finance team.

About You
Finance experience, particularly in Local Government, will go a long way, but equally important is a can-do attitude, team fit, and the desire to make a difference in the Walcha LGA. You will hold relevant qualifications and industry experience in Finance. You will use your relevant industry or local government experience to help the Finance team contribute to Council’s overall success.
You will work well with our team and contribute to Council efforts in moving toward the mutually shared goals of efficiency, sustainability and a positive workplace. Our Community Strategic Plan is our guiding document, developed by the community it provides all employees within Council a clear set of goals to be achieved. You will be a vital contributor to this process.
You will ensure that Walcha Council fulfils our responsibilities under the relevant Acts, Legislations and Policies, and that we continue to provide best practise activities in alignment with the latest standards & guidance.

What we Offer
This position has (35 hours per week) a negotiable starting wage of $1439.20 (gross per week + super) based on the Local Government (State) Award 2023.
Depending on your qualifications and the expertise that you can bring, Council is prepared to be negotiable on the terms and conditions of this position.

You will be working under a motivated and improvement led local government veteran in our Director Corporate & Community and our Finance Manager, who will provide leadership and mentoring to set you apart in your career as a local government finance specialist.
