Join Our Team as a Finance Officer - Accounts Payable and/or Payroll Officer at the Shire of Toodyay!

The Shire is seeking an Accounts Payable Officer and Payroll Officer to join our Corporate Services division, the heart of a strategic transformation.
We are offering these positions as two roles or combined into one. The hours can be flexible, we are seeking the right candidate and that could mean Full-time, Part-time or School hours.

What You'll Do:
Accounts Payable Role
 Undertake general accounting duties. They include processing accounts payable, reconciling
accounts, and petty cash.
 Be proficient in using financial software and maintaining accurate records.
 Coordinate, perform and complete creditors payments ensuring timely payments of accounts.
 Reconcile purchase orders, invoices and statements.
 Collect, receipt and reconcile monies remitted for payment.

What You'll Do:
Payroll Officer Role
 Preparing input to the payroll system ensuring that the payroll reflects the correct calculations in
line with relevant Awards/Enterprise Agreements, and the processing and release of the payment
within strict deadlines.
 Maintaining the relevant records for each employee, ensuring that they are up to date and reflect
the employee’s conditions of employment and entitlement.
 Prepare, balance and reconcile PAYG tax, Superannuation and Single Touch Payroll.
 Respond to employee enquiries relating to remuneration or leave balances and forecasting.

Selection Criteria
Payroll

Essential
 Demonstrated experience working in a payroll environment and well-developed understanding of
payroll practices.
 Demonstrated knowledge of remuneration and reward trends.
 Experience in interpreting industrial instruments including Awards and Enterprise Agreements.
 Ability to keep to tight deadlines.
 An understanding of Human Resources functions and best practices.
 Highly developed administration skills with Office 365

Desirable
 At least two years’ experience within a payroll position.
 Previous experience working in Local Government
 Formal qualification in a related discipline

Qualifications / Licences / Clearances
 National Police Clearance
 Pre-employment Medical
 Evidence of a right to work in Australia.

Selection Criteria
Accounts Payable

Essential
 Qualifications up to Certificate IV or current previous experience and training in a similar role.
 Have experience in an accounting or finance role, with strong skills in accounts processing and
reconciliations.
 Ability to work as an effective team member and solve problems with others.
 High level of organisational skills to consistently approach workload in a proactive manner to
ensure timelines and standards are met.
 Highly developed administration skills with Office 365

Desirable
 At least two years’ experience within an Accounts Payable position.
 Previous experience working in Local Government

Qualifications / Licences / Clearances
 National Police Clearance
 Pre-employment Medical
