About the role

In contributing to the overarching vision and purpose, the role of Environmental Protection Officer is responsible for implementing legislation and regulating the activities which have an impact on the Environment. The role requires you to undertake general environmental protection duties including water monitoring and responding to reports of environmental incidents within the community.

To be successful in this role, you will have:

  • Degree in Environmental Health, Environmental Science or Natural Resource Management or related field OR demonstrated solid contemporary experience in a similar role, combined with ongoing professional development.
  • Demonstrated experience working with the Protection of the Environment Operations Act and the Environmental Planning and Assessment Act.
  • Proven experience in responding to and investigating environmental incidents and prepare evidence for enforcement action where there has been non-compliance with legislation.
  • Recent exposure in assessment of environmental impacts of development, including air, water, soil, contamination and acoustics issues.

Other important information

  • The commencing salary for this position is up to $93.8K Central Coast Council also provides progression opportunities for employees to progress up to the maximum salary of $108.7K on completion of assessment of skills and performance 11.5% superannuation 
  • We have a temporary full-time position until September 2025. 
  • This role will be able to access a 9 day fortnight
  • We are able to offer hybrid and flexible working conditions for this role - 2 days from home and 3 days onsite 
  • This role is located at the Wyong Administration Building
