Some of your core functions include:

  • Conducting flora (and if necessary, fauna) surveys of Shire reserves and other lands as required to provide strategic information on areas such as vegetation health and disease, threatened species and communities, weeds and pests, to facilitate management of reserves and other environmental assets.
  • Conducting strategic tree assessments, most notably for significant trees but also for safety and retention/removal decisions to support the Parks and Gardens team in decision-making on tree safety.
  • Providing effective feedback on strategic planning matters (such as proposed structure plans, subdivision applications and scheme amendments), ground truthing submitted environmental assessments.
  • Providing sound environmental and biodiversity technical advice and management to key stakeholders on proposed developments, reserve management and other environmental matters.
  • Assisting other Environmental officers with coverage and field surveys.

Our preferred candidates will be able to demonstrate the following experiences and skillset:

  • Tertiary qualifications (or currently study) in Environmental Management/Science or Natural Resource Management.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to liaise with a broad range of internal and external stakeholders.
  • Commitment to excellent customer service.
  • Relevant experience in environmental planning or natural resource management.

An annual salary of up to $61,000.00 per annum pro rata (dependent on skills and experience) will be negotiated with the successful applicant. Also on offer is the opportunity to work within a great team as well as some other fantastic benefits.
