About the Role

Wollondilly Shire Council is seeking a suitably experienced Ranger to join the team in the position of Environment Officer - Enforcement (Illegal Dumping). 

Reporting to the Team Leader Ranger Services, the successful applicant will have the opportunity to enhance their skills within a regulatory services environment. Supported by a service focused team, you will be responsible for implementing key actions as part of Council’s Illegal Dumping Strategy and investigate complaints received by Council in relation to non-compliance issues within the Wollondilly Local Government area.

No two days will be the same! 

The successful applicant will need to demonstrate their competency for the position by meeting the following essential criteria:

  • Experience in Compliance/Ranger activities.
  • Demonstrated experience in the preparation of legal evidence, notices, orders and directions.
  • Ability to plan, prioritise, think and solve problems on a day-to-day basis.
  • Ability to interpret and apply legislation and Council Policies, in particular the Protection of the Environment Operations Act 1991, Environmental Planning and assessment Act 1979, Local Government Act 1993, Companion Animals Act 1998, Public Spaces (Unattended Property) Act 2021, Traffic Act, Road Rules 2008 and Road Act.
  • Current Class C driver’s licence.
  • A current and valid Working with Children Check clearance.

This position will be required to work out-of-hours, including the on-call roster and on weekends when required.
