ABOUT THE ROLE

Position

We are currently seeking an enthusiastic and consultative individual with strong interpersonal skills to join Council as an Emergency Management Resilience Officer.

Reporting to the Manager Asset Management and Resource Recovery, this position is responsible for developing and implementing strategies to build social cohesion through community-led resilience to emergencies and natural disasters within the Ballina Local Government Area. The role actively works with communities and support partners during all stages of the emergency management cycle. A focus of the position will be to continue the development, planning and implementation of Council’s emergency management framework to strengthen community preparedness and resilience to emergencies and natural disasters.

This part time position is for a temporary grant funded period of up to 12 months.

To be successful you will bring

  • Qualification (Degree/Diploma/Certificate) in emergency management, community engagement and development plus a minimum two years’ experience or substantial experience in implementing community-led preparedness and resilience programs.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of emergency management and natural disaster community preparedness and resilience principles, practices, standards, and related disciplines and awareness of contemporary trends and issues and their application and impact.
  • Demonstrated ability to analyse problems and formulate solutions based on the practical interpretations of policies, procedures and relevant legislation.
  • Proven excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to build partnerships and consult with a diverse range of people and deliver services using initiative and creativity.
