About the role

Central Coast Council is excited to offer Education and Care traineeships including School-Based, Certificate III and Diploma.

The School-Based traineeship is open to students commencing Year 11 in 2025 who wish to complete the Certificate III as part of their HSC. Central Coast Council will pay the successful candidate for working 1 day per week for the duration of the program, (additional days available during school holidays) totalling 100 days over 2 years and will also provide support toward formal online training with the chosen Registered Training Organisation. 

Our Certificate III traineeship will give you the opportunity to gain theoretical and practical experience whilst working at a Child Care Centre over 18 months.

Other important information

  • The salary for the School-Based traineeship is $15.74 per hour plus 11.5% superannuation
  • The salary range for the Certificate III traineeship sits between $15.74 - $21.66 per hour plus 11.5% superannuation
  • The salary range for the Diploma traineeship sits between $16.53 - $22.75 per hour plus 11.5% superannuation
  • The Certificate III and Diploma Traineeships are temporary full-time roles 
  • Applicants may be required to undertake a course of vaccinations against Hepatitis A and B, Tetanus (Boostrix), MMR and Varicella or demonstrate their immunity. CMV screening will be required.
  • We have a School-Based traineeship available at Terrigal and Northlakes
  • We have a Diploma traineeship available in Wyong
  • We have a Certificate III traineeship in Northlakes and Toukley

 Applicants must meet screening requirements for existing qualifications which determine eligibility for a traineeship. 

Council will be creating an eligibility list from this recruitment process and may utilise this eligibility list to fill other permanent or temporary vacancies.
