About the role
The Senior Project Officer manages a range of student-related processes including being accountable for developing, implementing and supporting programs designed to increase the numbers and the student satisfaction of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students in the Faculty of Law and Transdisciplinary School. This is across Undergraduate (UG), Postgraduate (PG), and Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) courses that are specific to Faculty of Law and Transdisciplinary School.
This role works to strategise and embed Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander student mentoring, Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander student pathways, developing relationships across UTS, particularly with Jumbunna Institute for Indigenous Education and Research (Jumbunna) and the Lifetime Learner Experience (LLE) Unit. In addition, the Senior Project Officer will provide high level project coordination and networking, external communication and profile raising, planning and management functions for the Faculty across and creating First nations law networks.
About You
As the Senior Project Officer, you will:
- Provide strategic support, program development, and end-to-end coordination across the Faculty of Law and UTS, including liaising with internal and external stakeholders to promote Indigenous participation in law, enhance cultural safety, support student retention and satisfaction initiatives, advise senior leadership, build partnerships, and respond to stakeholder enquiries.
- Develop and implement mentoring programs for Indigenous and non-Indigenous students to attract and retain participation, improve student satisfaction, support the success of low SES students, and grow the Indigenous student cohort.
- Develop partnerships to secure work placement opportunities, internships and related initiatives, and collaborate across the University to coordinate Indigenous input and best practice in student and staff experience.
- Ensure Indigenous law and TD students at UTS have access to appropriate support services and pastoral care to maximise their academic success.
- Collaborate with stakeholders across UTS to contribute to decision-making and provide advice on academic policy and Indigenous student programs.
With examples from your previous work experience, please outline, in a separate document, how you meet the following five selection criteria points below:
- A degree in a relevant area with at least 4 years work experience or extensive experience and management expertise in administrative, project support of relevant programs.
- Demonstrated experience in developing and implementing effective strategies for the recruitment, retention, and?support of Indigenous students in a higher education setting.
- Demonstrated experience in building internal and external partnerships to support Indigenous programs within the Faculty of Law.
- Demonstrated ability to plan, coordinate and deliver projects end-to-end, managing scope, timelines, resources, risks and stakeholders to achieve agreed outcomes.
- High level interpersonal and written communication skills including the ability to communicate and work sensitively and effectively with Aboriginal and Torres Islander peoples.

Remuneration & Benefits
Base Salary Range: $107,402 to $118,813 pa (HEW 7)
This role attracts 17% superannuation in addition to the base salary.

This position is full-time and appointment will be made on a continuing basis.
