Salary Range: $1,712 - $1,954 (including 3.5% Civil Liability Allowance) per 35 hour week + superannuation
As Design & Projects Engineer you will provide technical advice and develop a range of civil infrastructure projects, to ‘shovel ready’ status and deliver projects to completion. The Design & Projects Engineer is required to undertake field surveys of allocated engineering projects and to investigate, research, analyse and report on projects associated with new construction, rehabilitation or maintenance of Council’s Civil Infrastructure assets. Projects will predominantly be in the areas of urban and rural roads, footpaths, kerb and gutter, piped and open channel stormwater drainage systems, culverts, causeways, bridges, and structures for parks and gardens.
You will prepare detailed geometric designs and environmental assessments, organise or conduct pavement, geotechnical and structural investigation as required for construction or rehabilitation of infrastructure assets, prepare tender and quotation documents including technical specifications, estimates and schedules of quantities for engaging external contractors and consultants, and co-ordinate delivery and implementation of civil projects in accordance with contract specifications.
You will be required to liaise with key stakeholders to resolve civil design issues, assist with grant submissions, undertake assessment of traffic and drainage impacts associated with development applications and investigate and report on customer work requests as required.

Selection criteria include:
- Tertiary qualifications in Civil Engineering (recognized by Engineers Australia) and/or significant experience in a relevant field
- Specialist knowledge and demonstrated competence in the following areas:
• Civil engineering – design, construction and rehabilitation
• Engineering surveying
• Geometric road design
• Project management skills
• Tendering and government procurement requirements - Class C NSW Drivers Licence
- Demonstrated competence in the use of design software such as AutoCAD, CivilCad and/or Advanced Road design
- Experience in the following areas is highly desirable
• Pavement design
• Simple structural designs
• Drainage design (including hydraulic calculations)
• Investigation, design and reporting of water supply and sewerage reticulation
• Traffic management
• Engineering assessment of development applications
