About the position

Narromine Shire Council are seeking a suitably qualified and experienced applicant for the position of Customer Service Officer - Revenue Administration and Cemeteries.

The Customer Service Officer-Accounts Receivable is a key member of Council’s Finance and Corporate Strategy team delivering excellent customer service and revenue processing services.

This position is responsible for:

  • The efficient management of Council accounts receivable and debt recovery services.  
  • Performing all the functions associated with the position efficiently while maintaining appropriate customer and community focus by providing excellent customer service.
  • Assisting in bringing about a culture which encourages the delivery of a high level of customer service in a courteous and professional manner and to provide effective and efficient customer service with the aim of consistently exceeding customer expectations. 

To be successful in this position you will need to have:

  • Certificate III in Business Administration or willingness to obtain.
  • Demonstrated experience in a similar role in a customer service environment.
  • Demonstrated experience in providing a high level of customer service.
  • Ability to plan, organise, set priorities and good time management.
  • Ability to communicate effectively both in oral and written form to internal and external bodies.
  • Experience in cash handling and balancing.
  • Ability to work in a team environment.
  • Highly developed written and oral communication skills.
  • Advanced computer skills in the Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word etc.).
  • Demonstrated commitment to WHS, Risk management and a sound knowledge of EEO principles.
  • Class ‘C’ Drivers Licence

It will be desirable for you to have: 

  • Knowledge of the Local Government Act; other relevant legislation;
  • Knowledge in debt recovery procedures and processes.
  • Knowledge of account balancing and reconciliation.
  • Appointment as a Justice of Peace or willingness to apply for appointment.
  • Working knowledge of Work Health & Safety.
  • Experience with the Civica Authority system.
  • Certificate III in Business Administration.

The position is graded 8 within Council's salary structure

The salary range is from $62,883 to $71,125 per annum plus superannuation. The salary step is determined by an annual competency assessment. 

35 hour working week applies. NSC has a flexitime system whereby you may work 37.50 hours per week to bank 2.5 hours per week to be used at a later date.

Employment conditions are as per the Local Government (State) Award
