ADD VALUE - THE ROLE

Providing Leadership to the Waste Management Facility team and overseeing the overall operation of the Waste Management Facility, the Coordinator Waste Management Facility ensures compliance with the EPA License, Development Assessment, Stormwater and Leachate management plans, Site Master Plan and Fill Plan, and is responsible for the completion of all required reporting, operational purpose deductions and internal Council data and reporting.

Key responsibilities of this role include;

  • Completed all required reporting the EPA including but not limited to monthly WARRP reporting, bi-annual volumetric surveys and operational purpose deductions.
  • Supervise, support and coordinate employees, contractors, sub-contractors and consultants engaged in waste and recycling activities.
  • Resolve service requests, equipment breakdowns and schedule changes with timely communications to all stakeholders.
  • Respond, report and record requests/complaints/enquiries received.
  • Review and update policies, procedures and practices relating to the Waste & Circular Economy business unit area.
  • Ensure waste and recycling databases and weighbridge systems, are fully operational, updated, maintained and serviced to meet industry and regulatory standards and requirements.
  • Oversee the accounts processes at the Waste Management Facility including processing account holder application, monthly Accounts and liaising with the finance team.
  • Procurement of applicable goods and services in accordance with Council's policies, procedures and requirements (inclusive of tendering as required).
  • Contractor & contract management for items within area of responsibility.
  • Preparation of compliance documentation, internal & external reporting, grant applications and correspondence as required.
  • Coordination of strategies & initiatives to improve site operational outcomes.

Essential to this role is degree qualifications a relevant field, such as Environmental/Civil (or Geotechnical/Chemical/Mining) Engineering or a similar related qualification such as Environmental Management, complemented by comprehensive experience as an Operations Manager within the Waste industry or a similar field with proven project management experience and a commitment to providing high-level customer service to all customers of Council. Experience working in a Landfill or Local Government would be desirable, however, not essential. 

This position is offered on a permanent, full-time basis working 35 hours per week.

Remuneration package for this position is based on Grade 14 of Council's Salary System Protocol which equates to a base salary of $106,329 - $119,606 plus a vehicle allowance of $17,639.77 and superannuation per annum totaling a TRP of $138,225 - $153,029
