About the role

We are seeking a passionate and experienced safety & risk professional to lead our safety culture within the organisation. Are you experienced at influencing internal stakeholders in best practice and proactive WHS behaviour? Do you have experience in corporate risk?

We are looking for a trusted advisor that has the ability to collaborate and influence stakeholders at all levels of Council. You will have excellent communication and relationship building skills to support achieving our objectives. If you have exceptional interpersonal skills and a passion for Work, Health and Safety, we want to hear from you.

This position will build capability and capacity within our workforce to meet the goals of the organisation and its obligations against the legislation. You will lead the Safety Team to ensure the development and continuous improvement of Council's safety culture within the broad functions of the organisation

To be considered for this position you will need to:

  • Address the essential criteria
  • Attach a cover letter (2 pages maximum) and an up-to-date resume (5 pages maximum) that clearly details your skills & experience as relevant to this position. You will need to demonstrate how you meet the focus capabilities and how your skills will enable you to achieve the key accountabilities.
  • Target questions - answer the  target questions - maximum 300 words each question

    1. How have you enabled a team made up of people from different work areas, to discuss issues and develop solutions? What did you do and what was the result?
    2. Describe how you translate broad goals into operational needs and explain the links for the team.
    3. Describe a process improvement you achieved through the use of technology.

Other important information

This position is located at Council's Grafton Office, however, this may change should business needs identify other work locations to be more appropriate to deliver our services in the future.

A probation period applies to this position.
