ABOUT THE ROLE

Position

We are looking for an enthusiastic waste management professional with motivational leadership qualities to join Council's Resource Recovery team. Reporting to the Manager Asset Management and Resource Recovery, this position is responsible for providing strategic leadership, coordination, and technical expertise to ensure the successful achievement of operational, legislative, and corporate objectives for the Council’s resource recovery operations.

The position will lead and motivate a team to deliver quality waste management operations and projects consistent with Council’s vision and the objectives of Council’s Waste Management Strategy.

To be successful you will bring

  • Behaviour that demonstrates Council’s values of: creative, accessible, respect, energetic and safe.
  • Relevant tertiary qualifications in waste management, engineering, environmental science or a related discipline.
  • Demonstrated sound experience in reviewing, coordinating and delivering successful waste management programs.
  • Demonstrated sound knowledge and application of environmental management and or engineering techniques associated with landfill and transfer stations.
  • Demonstrated experience in leading a team with the ability to develop and mentor staff to perform and promote a positive work environment.
  • Demonstrated excellent interpersonal skills, including the ability to consult and negotiate with relevant stakeholders on complex matters through effective written and verbal communication.

The rewards

  • An annual salary range of $95,300 to $109,300 (plus 11.5% superannuation) dependent upon skills, experience and qualifications.
  • 19 day month working arrangement. Council is currently trialling a range of flexible working options. Subject to operational requirements, full time office staff will have access to a nine day fortnight, with a thirty minute lunch break. For the duration of the trial arrangement, staff will also have the option to apply to work a compressed four day work week, subject to operational requirements and approval.
