About the Role
This is an exciting and creative, full-time, permanent role that combines the technical and behavioral expertise of marketing and community consultation professionals to increase the reach, impact, and engagement of our promotional and communication activities. Working 35 hours a week at Council's Nowra Administration Building, this role is vital to the changes that we're making to ensure we are communicating in a meaningful way with the diversity of communities that live here in the Shoalhaven.
Reporting directly to the Manager Media and Communications, the focus of this role is to:
- Lead and implement public relations activities to deliver creative, targeted and effective community engagement.
- Gather data and insights to develop evidence-based strategies for community consultation activities.
- Provide advice into marketing materials including web and intranet content, campaign content and visual design.
- Coordinate and assist the delivery of civic and corporate events.

The advertised salary is based on the grade of the position, comprising of 4 steps within the range shown. The starting salary is at Step 1 within the grade. Progression through the salary steps shall be based upon the achievement of performance objectives relating to the position.
About You
To be successful in the position, you will have:
- Professional experience related to community engagement, marketing, communications, event management or related fields.
- A bachelor's degree in marketing, journalism, public relations, or related field.
- Excellent relationship building skills with the ability to professionally communicate with community, staff, and elected officials.
- Proven track record in designing and delivering creative marketing and engagement campaigns that galvanise an audience into action.
- Eye for design, brand development and optimisation.
- Sound understanding of community and stakeholder management, with an understanding of the International Association for Public Participation (IAP2)
- Excellent communication skills and experience in planning, developing, implementing, and evaluating events and activities.
- Experience in developing communication and marketing strategies.
- Knowledge of website management and web content development, including search engine optimisation and user experience design.
- Build positive relationships with customers while meeting their needs and exceeding their expectations.
- Proof of Australian residency or citizenship, or authority to work in Australia (visa)
- Class C Driver License
