This senior professional position heads up Council's high performing Contracts Section within our Enginering Division, and is responsible for ensuring efficient, timely, and high-quality procurement and project management services across Council. The position is also Council’s key procurement subject matter expert and is responsible for managing a $50M annual program of contract works.

We're looking for a leader with exceptional project management, procurement/contract management and design/construction management experience, who is able to deliver a program encompassing road, drainage, water, wastewater, building and open space infrastructure. You'll be a motivated forward thinker, dedicated to driving improvements and value for money for the organisation; with the ability to instil that approach within your team. 

About the role:

  • Responsible for the management of Council's Contracts Section.
  • Plan and deliver a large diverse program of capital works and procurement activities.
  • Undertake and oversee procurement and contract management activities ensuring they meet legislative, risk, financial, timing, quality, and contractual constraints.

We are seeking:

  • Degree qualifications in Engineering, Procurement, Construction or relevant discipline and demonstrated extensive experience in a similar role.
  • Strong program and project management abilities, including managing multiple and competing budgets, schedules and resourcing; whilst ensuring appropriate stakeholder communication and reporting.
  • High level of competence in procurement and contract management and the ability to manage multi-discipline projects simultaneously; including contract supervision and close out.
  • Ability to provide expert technical advice, review and supervision of contracts, engineering designs and construction methods for civil works and building works.
  • Willingness to learn and adapt to various work environments.
  • Enthusiastic and self-motivated to achieve project and organisational outcomes.

Where it's located:

This position is based in Murwillumbah and can be directed to work from any Council work site.
