About the role
The full-time, 5-month contract role is 35 hours per week, Monday to Friday, working from the Council Administration Building, Nowra. The role is currently positioned in the Office of the Chief Executive Officer.

You will be a highly skilled stakeholder engagement professional with extensive experience and confidence, working with diverse and complex communities internal and external to Council.

Duties
Reporting directly to the Coordinator – Marketing and Community Engagement, the focus of this position is to:

  • Plan, develop and deliver effective community engagement plans
  • Develop and implement a range of community consultation activities (toolkits, workshops, forums)
  • Build strong relationships and provide community engagement advice to the community and staff of Council

Skills & Experience
To be successful in the position, you will possess:

  • Qualifications in Communications, Social Science, Engagement or related disciplines or equivalent experience in a community engagement environment
  • Minimum 3 years demonstrated experience in community engagement
  • Satisfy a Police Check
  • Hold Australian citizenship, residency or appropriate visa

You will also need

  • Demonstrated knowledge of IAP2 principles of Stakeholder Engagement
  • Ability to facilitate and present information to community meetings and forums, relevant groups, business and stakeholders in the local community
  • Knowledge and experience using online platforms to be able to update the “Get Involved Shoalhaven” website.
  • Demonstrated ability to maintain a high level of confidentiality, self motivation and professionalism.

Council requires applicants for this position to undergo a National Criminal History Check during the recruitment process. This check will be at the expense of Council.
