About the role
Clarence Valley Council is seeking an experienced Communications Officer to deliver communications that contribute to the deliver of programs and initiatives and enhance the positive reputation of Council. This is an exciting opportunity to join Clarence Valley Council and contribute to the communications function.
The role will require somebody with communications experience and the ability to develop a range of communications plans and activities to promote a diverse range of projects. This role will contribute to developing and growing Council’s communications channels to reach a diverse and geographically dispersed audience. The role will require somebody who is resilient, adaptable and solutions focused and can problem-solve to find smart solutions to drive media and content that is transparent and engaging for our community. In addition, this role will support internal communications, contributing to making Council the best place to work.
About you - Ideally you will be degree qualified in the field of Communications (or similar) or have equivalent relevant experience delivering communications plans and liaising with the media. You will be community and customer focused and a natural communicator who can engage with internal and external stakeholders to develop timely, relevant, and accurate communications to inform the community. You like to combine creativity and strategic thinking to develop engaging content that will increase earned media and maximise reach through Council’s channels. You like a challenge and want the opportunity to grow into the role and future careers with Council. You will see every day as a new challenge and look for ways to continually improve communications, including via digital technology. You will enjoy building relationships across all levels of the organisation, and externally to identify new opportunities to build mutually beneficial partnerships with media and the community.

This position is located at Council's Grafton office, however, this may change should business needs identify other work locations to be more appropriate to deliver our services in the future.
A probation period applies to this position.
