About the position

North Burnett Regional Council are seeking a visionary and dynamic Chief Executive Officer to help lead our Council into the future.

As the CEO, you will play a critical role in shaping the strategic direction, driving operational excellence, and ensuring the delivery of high-quality services across our diverse communities.

You will provide strategic leadership, fostering a culture of innovation, accountability, and continuous improvement. You will develop and implement long-term strategies and plans that align with the Council’s vision and objectives, whilst ensuring effective financial management and sustainability of the Council’s operations. Your ability to build and maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders, including Government agencies, community groups, and local businesses, will be essential in promoting economic development and community well-being across the region.

You will oversee the delivery of essential services and infrastructure projects, ensuring they are completed on time, within budget, and to the highest standards. Additionally, you will act as a spokesperson for the Council, representing the organisation in public forums and addressing key issues that impact our entire region and close-knit communities.

About you

You will have proven experience in a Senior Executive leadership role, ideally within a similar sized Queensland Local Government environment. You will possess strong strategic thinking and planning skills, coupled with excellent financial and operational management capabilities. Your outstanding communication and interpersonal skills will enable you to build and maintain effective relationships with diverse stakeholders. You bring a demonstrated ability to drive innovation and lead change, with a commitment to community engagement and regional development.

Your strategic mindset allows you to anticipate and respond to emerging challenges and opportunities effectively. You are a collaborative leader who values the input and contributions of the organisation, fostering a positive and inclusive workplace culture. Your ability to engage with and inspire others is critical to your success, as is your commitment to transparency and ethical governance. You are passionate about making a positive impact in the community and have a track record of implementing innovative solutions that drive regional growth and development.

Relevant tertiary qualifications in business, public administration, or a related field are essential.
