Compliance Manager / Compliance Auditor – RTO Sector

Location: Cairns, Townsville or Brisbane, QLD
Work Type: Full Time / Part Time / Contract options available

We are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Compliance Manager / Compliance Auditor to support and strengthen our Registered Training Organisation (RTO) operations.

This role is ideal for a compliance professional with strong knowledge of the vocational education and training sector, including regulatory requirements, audit preparation, quality assurance systems, and continuous improvement processes.

We are flexible in how this role is structured and are open to full-time, part-time, or contract arrangements for the right applicant, based on experience.

The successful candidate may be based in Cairns, Townsville or Brisbane, with some flexibility for remote work depending on the engagement arrangement. For contract-based applicants, portions of the role may be completed remotely, however periodic travel to our Cairns office will be required. All flights, accommodation, and approved travel expenses will be covered by the company.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and maintain RTO compliance systems in accordance with the Standards for RTOs and relevant legislation

  • Conduct internal compliance audits and identify areas for improvement

  • Support preparation for ASQA audits and regulatory reviews

  • Ensure organisational policies, procedures, and training documentation remain compliant and current

  • Monitor compliance obligations relating to DTET and other funding contracts, and training delivery requirements

  • Review training and assessment strategies, assessment tools, student files, and trainer matrices for compliance accuracy

  • Provide guidance and support to trainers, administration staff, and management regarding compliance requirements

  • Maintain quality assurance frameworks and continuous improvement registers

  • Assist with rectification activities and evidence gathering where required

  • Support reporting requirements and contribute to strategic compliance planning

Skills & Experience

To be successful in this role, you will ideally possess:

  • Demonstrated experience working within an RTO environment

  • Strong understanding of the Standards for RTOs and VET compliance obligations

  • Experience with ASQA audits and regulatory engagement

  • Experience working with DTET and/or DESBT-funded programs highly regarded

  • Previous experience in a Compliance Manager, Compliance Officer, Quality Assurance, or Internal Auditor role preferred

  • Strong documentation, analytical, and organisational skills

  • Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills

  • High attention to detail and ability to work autonomously
