About the Opportunity

Parkes Shire Council is currently looking for casual Library Assistants to work within the Parkes Shire Library Service.

If you are a positive team member who values life-long learning, provision of exceptional customer service and enjoys working with the Parkes community - this is the role for you!

This position will provide quality front desk customer service, support with displays, events/programs and undertake maintenance of the library's collections to assist with the general efficient operation of the library.

 About You

To be successful in this role, you will need:

Essential

  • Qualifications and/or relevant experience in libraries and/or customer service 
  • Minimum of 2 years relevant work experience
  • Current and maintained NSW Driver’s Licence
  • Current Working with Children Check
  • National Police Check
  • Right to live and work in Australia

Desirable

  • Certificate IV Library and Information Services or a related discipline
  • Experience in a library environment
  • Experience working with community groups

Benefits

The appointment will be in accordance with the Local Government (State) Award and Parkes Shire Council's policies and conditions of employment. 

The role has been evaluated as being Grade 5 within Council's salary structure and offers a remuneration rate of  $37.09 per hour to $42.65 per hour which includes a 25% casual loading in lieu of leave entitlements.  The starting rate will depend on the skills and experience of the successful applicant.
