About the role
This position is a full-time cadetship role within the Planning and Environment team based at the Moruya Administration Offices. This is a fantastic opportunity to gain valuable on the job skills whilst completing your degree level study. Council will pay the upfront tertiary fees for Cadets undertaking Council approved undergraduate studies.
Your main duties will include:
- Liaise with and advise builders, developers, architects, solicitors, engineers, designers and the community via the provisions of technical/specialist information and clarify Council’s requirements on engineering policies and practices.
- Assess engineering referrals and provide engineering advice for development applications, including complex applications, and recommend appropriate conditions for consents.
- Assist as part of a team in the development, implementation and review of Policies and Guidelines and contribute to the development of strategic plans associated with development engineering issues.
- Conduct special assignments and assessments with a degree of complexity
- Assess and determine approval/refusal for those plans submitted to satisfy engineering issues prior to issue of Construction Certificate.
Salary Information
Total remuneration for the role is in the range $64,270.13 to $100,809.69 gross per annum comprising:
- $57,641.37 to $90,412.28 base salary
- $6,628.76 to $10,397.41 superannuation (calculated at 11.5%)
Appointment to this position is subject to the following:
- A satisfactory outcome as a result of a National Criminal History Record Check.
- Medical clearance to verify that you are safely able to undertake the duties of the position.

About you
You will be a strong communicator and enjoy working in a team environment. You will be a high achiever with a can-do attitude and demonstrate the following:
- Progress toward (or eligibility for acceptance into) relevant industry undergraduate studies, such as Bachelor of Engineering (Civil Major) via distance education.
- Advanced literacy and numeracy and ability to utilise technology and software programs.
- Problem solving ability, decision making and negotiation skills.
- Computer literary with expertise in MS Office and MapInfo (or similar).
