Business Development Specialist

Carer Solutions

Date posted: January 21, 2026

Closes: Feb 20, 2026

  • Not your typical sales role - purpose over pressure, relationships over quotas

  • Full-time, ongoing role with motor vehicle allowance and competitive base salary

  • Genuine work life balance with great benefits (wellbeing subsidy, birthday leave, volunteer leave)

Carer Solutions was founded in 2011 with a clear mission to create a much-needed solution for people living with disabilities and their support networks. We pioneered Australia’s first and only Direct Employ model and have since supported thousands of people to employ trusted Support Workers from within their own communities.

We’re seeking a Business Development Specialist (referred to internally as Community Engagement Specialist) to join our Community Engagement Team based. You will primarily service Western Victoria, including Ballarat, with a link into the Western suburbs of Melbourne. You will build meaningful connections that support people living with disability and their families – making real impact every day.

The impact you will drive

As Business Development Specialist, you'll play a critical role in growing Carer Solutions' reach by engaging directly with individuals, families, and community organisations at the grassroots level. Reporting to the National Community Engagement Lead, you'll be our brand ambassador, building trusted relationships and generating new opportunities. You'll also provide ongoing support to partners who need assistance, coordinating with internal teams to ensure they receive the right help when required.

This is a unique opportunity to drive meaningful change through:

  • Developing and implementing grassroots community engagement strategies that generate new business and strengthen our presence across Victoria

  • Building trusted, long-term relationships with prospective Partners, councils, specialist schools, advocacy groups, and community organisations

  • Representing Carer Solutions at community events, expos, and stakeholder forums across your region, with regular travel required

  • Assessing service suitability for prospective Partners and guiding them through the onboarding journey

What makes this different from typical sales roles:

  • Competitive base salary with work-life balance and no commission pressure

  • Purpose-driven targets - every partnership directly empowers people living with a disability

  • Clear targets with structured support and coaching

  • Motor vehicle allowance to support your grassroots engagement work

What makes you a great fit

You're a natural connector who thrives in face-to-face settings and knows how to turn conversations into meaningful relationships. You bring:

  • Demonstrated business development expertise with proven ability to meet targets, generate leads, build pipelines, and convert opportunities into partnerships

  • Demonstrated ability to engage effectively with individuals, families, and community stakeholders at a grassroots level – ideally within disability, community services, or not-for-profit sectors

  • A natural ability to connect with diverse audiences, foster long-term partnerships, and represent the organisation with professionalism, warmth, and authenticity

  • Sound understanding of community needs, referral networks, and sector trends, with the ability to identify opportunities for growth

  • Demonstrated ability to manage a mobile, community-facing role with regular travel across your region and sometimes interstate, with access to a reliable vehicle and current driver's licence

  • Ideally minimum 3 years’ experience in a similar role, though strong candidates with less experience are encouraged to apply

What you will be part of

At Carer Solutions, you’ll be part of a team working to challenge the status quo in disability support.

Here you’ll find:

  • Purpose with impact. See your work directly empower people and communities—doing work that genuinely matters.

  • Innovation with heart. Shape the future of support in a values-led organisation that's pioneering better ways forward.

  • Wellbeing that's real. Hybrid working, birthday leave, volunteer leave, $500 wellbeing subsidy, 17.5% annual leave loading, and yes— you can bring your dog to the office.

  • A collaborative culture. Join a team that celebrates your growth with team lunches, regular milestone celebrations, and a genuine commitment to your development.
