About the position:
The Building Maintenance Officer will be responsible for providing professional maintenance services, minor capital improvements, and installation programs to support an effective and high quality outcome for City owned building facilities whilst ensuring a high level of safety and proficiency is achieved at all times.
The City is open to considering applications from non-trade qualified candidates who possess significant experience in general building maintenance i.e. painting/patching, hanging doors, installing deadlocks, with demonstrated knowledge of current workplace health and safety practices.
Key accountabilities:
- Conduct scheduled and ad-hoc maintenance to City owned buildings as directed by the Building Maintenance Supervisor, in a professional manner.
- Identify and report maintenance and vandalism issues, including initial assessments and recommendations to the Building Maintenance Team for action and recording.
- Ensure rapid removal of offensive graffiti/vandalism.
- Organise and prioritise competing tasks and work both autonomously and as part of a team.
- Conduct pre start/use inspections of plant and equipment on a daily basis and report all faults/defects to the Building Maintenance Supervisor.

Position requirements:
The successful applicant will ideally possess a trade level qualification (preferably in carpentry or cabinet making) with relevant experience, or significant experience in a similar maintenance/general hand role.
We are seeking an individual with versatile experience who can confidently work across the City’s diverse assets, with current working at heights and confined space entry certificates being highly regarded.
Completion of a pre-employment medical including alcohol and other substances testing is required of all positions at the City.
Remuneration and benefits:
A salary starting from $78,497 per annum or $39.7255 per hour will be offered dependent on knowledge, skills, experience and qualifications.
