About the role

Bathurst Regional Council currently has an opportunity for someone to join the Work's section as a Backhoe Operator. In this role you will be required to operate Council's Backhoe and undertake duties associated with road construction and maintenance activities. 

To be successful in this role you must hold a current NSW Class C Driver's Licence, as a minimum, have experience operating backhoes, and knowledge and experience in basic mechanical and maintenance principles of plant.  Experience working in the road maintenance and construction industry are also key requirements.

Key Requirements

  • A current NSW Class C Driver’s Licence, as a minimum
  • General Construction Induction Card (White Card)
  • Demonstrated extensive experience in the operation of a backhoe
  • Knowledge and experience in the operation of a backhoe in the following areas:
    • Excavation near services
    • Laying water, sewer and stormwater mains or similar
  • Experience in operating small plant used in the construction industry
  • Proven ability to work effectively as a team member
  • Knowledge and experience of road construction and maintenance principles
  • Knowledge and experience in basic mechanical & maintenance principles of plant
  • Adequate numeracy and literacy skills to fulfil the requirements of the position

This position requires a pre employment health assessment which includes a functional, audio and drug & alcohol screen.

Salary: $1,044.00 to $1,096.90 per week + industry allowance of $18.92 per week + super 

Position Status: Permanent Full-time 

Hours of work: 38 hours per week with an RDO every fortnight
