Summary: 

Looking for a job that gets you outdoors and keeps you moving? As a Meter Reader with Downer, you’ll be out and about in your local community, walking long distances each day while ensuring customers receive accurate and timely meter reads. 

This role also includes standard meter reading, special reads, and the reconnection and disconnection of electricity at residential and commercial properties. No experience is needed—just a can-do attitude, a valid driver’s licence, and the fitness to enjoy a highly active role. 

What You’ll Be Doing 

• Conduct meter readings across allocated routes 

• Carry out special reads as required 

• Perform reconnection and disconnection of electricity services at properties 

• Access residential, commercial and industrial sites 

• Update readings and report field conditions accurately 

• Support additional field tasks such as surveys or inspections when required 

What We’re Looking For 

We’d love to hear from you if you have: 

• A current unrestricted driver’s licence 

• Good customer service skills and friendly communication 

• The ability to walk long distances and work outdoors in all weather 

• Strong time management skills and reliability 

• The motivation to work safely, follow schedules, and get the job done right the first time
