Lead Data Analyst - ERP Migration

A Federal government department is seeking an experienced ERP Data Analyst to drive the tactical execution of an ERP migration, specifically the cleansing, mapping, and loading of HR and Financial data. You'll collaborate with architects to ensure all processing meets Australian privacy standards while profiling complex datasets to catch anomalies.

Beyond defining technical rules and automating quality checks, you will translate findings into actionable visual reports for the Data Governance Group to guide decision-making. Crucially, you will act as a mentor, coaching internal staff on analytical best practices to build long-term organisational capability. It's the perfect mix of technical "heavy lifting" and strategic team development.

Contract Details

  • Baseline Security clearance required (you must be an Australian Citizen to go through the vetting process).

  • 12-month initial contract duration with a 12 month extension option.

  • Locations ACT, NSW, VIC or QLD. Canberra location is preferred.

  • Full time 40-hour work week

  • Hybrid working (3 days in office and 2 WFH days)

  • Remote work would be considered for the right candidate - monthly travel to the Canberra office would be non-negotiable.

  • Estimated start date of May 2026

Key Responsibilities

  • Identifying data anomalies including duplicates, missing values, outliers.

  • Utilise commercial data quality and data profiling tools to streamline the cleansing process for large datasets.

  • Define, document and execute data cleansing and remediation rules for large-scale migration efforts.

  • Establish processes to securely collect, process and validate data, including the ability to define business rules and run data quality checks against them.

  • Apply and uphold data governance standards, policies, and practices to ensure a high level of data quality, consistency, and integrity throughout the migration process.

  • Prepare and present comprehensive reports and interactive dashboards to communicate complex data quality patterns and findings to both technical and non-technical stakeholders

  • Mentoring internal data professionals, providing targeted feedback on technical skills and improving communication of analytical insights.

Desirable experience

  • Power BI or Tableau dashboard development.

  • Previous ERP implementation or ERP data migration experience

  • Experience working with ERP systems (example Aurion, TechOne, WorkDay, SAP, MS365)

  • Experience using the Aurion Query Tool (AQT) or the TechOne analyser ETL tool

  • Strong SQL skills and experience querying large enterprise datasets

  • Using Python for data analysis, transformation, or automation

  • Data reconciliation between source and target systems during migrations

  • Experience working with Federal Government HR or financial data

  • Experience producing data mapping, transformation logic, and migration templates

  • Experience with data quality assessment and remediation activities

  • Experience working in ERP or HR data migration projects (e.g., legacy HR system → new solution)

  • Experience documenting data definitions, business rules, and data lineage

What is on offer

  • A supportive working culture

  • Free parking at the Canberra office.

  • Flexibility with working from home and in the office, and working hours

  • 12-month contract plus 1 x 12-month extension option
