About the Role

The Asset Planning Engineer - Open Space - Parks - Buildings plays a vital role in optimising the whole life cycle of assets to ensure service level objectives are met. This position focuses on the technical assessment of Open Spaces, including Parks and Land, as well as building assets. You will be responsible for planning and conducting feasibility studies, condition assessments, and options analyses to address renewals and growth, ensuring the effective management of these assets. Additionally, you will contribute to asset management strategy development and support the implementation of asset performance improvements.

Key Responsibilities include:

  • Utilising the Technology 1 Strategic Asset Module or similar tools to forecast a 10-year Asset Renewal profile and produce a 3-year fixed renewal plan.
  • Preparing feasibility studies, concept designs, options assessments, and business cases for growth, renewal, compliance, and improvement projects.
  • Implementing Asset Improvement Initiatives such as Asset Management and Asset Class Plans to enhance asset life cycle costs and service delivery outcomes.
  • Supporting asset performance dash-boarding, monitoring, and reporting to inform investment decisions.
  • Leading investigations and data analysis to address systemic asset and network performance issues.
  • Collaborating with internal stakeholders across departments to provide technical support and strategic advice.

About You

You are an experienced professional with:

  • A qualification in a related field such as Engineering, Asset Management, or equivalent. A degree is preferred, but a diploma with significant relevant experience will also be considered.
  • Experience in Building, Open Space, and Park Infrastructure Engineering, Modelling, or Planning.
  • Interpersonal skills, with the ability to build rapport and communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
  • A demonstrated ability to optimise asset life cycles in line with service level outcomes.
  • Proven capability to work independently, exercise initiative, and meet deadlines.
