About the apprenticeship:
Tweed Shire Council is proud to offer an Apprenticeship with our Parks and Active Communities team. As an apprentice, you'll gain hands-on experience while completing a Certificate III in Carpentry.
As a Carpenter Apprentice, you will assist our carpenters and joiners to provide carpentry services to the organisation. This is a hands-on role perfect for someone with a passion for creating and building.
In order to meet the requirements of the Apprenticeship, successful completion of training and tertiary studies is required.
What you'll do:
- Assist our carpenters to complete projects that improve council-owned buildings and facilities.
- Build fundamental skills to work as a carpenter and joiner in the building and construction industry.
- Learn project management skills and work on a range of indoor and outdoor projects.
- Develop strong technical skills and gain valuable hands-on experience.
- Receive mentorship from the Parks and Active Communities team to help you succeed.
What's on offer:
- A full-time position for a maximum period of up to 48 months, commencing February 2025.
- A starting base salary ranging from $32,973 to $62,358 per annum +11.5% super. Salary progression is based on satisfactory completion of study plus work performance.
- Council will cover the associated course costs of your Certificate III.
- Paid work placement while you learn.
- 70 hour fortnight, 9 day fortnight.

We are seeking:
- Competent numeracy & literacy skills.
- A positive attitude and self-motivated.
- Completed Year 10 Education.
- General Construction Induction (white card) or willingness to obtain prior to commencement.
- A commitment to complete the apprenticeship, this includes a requirement to attend TAFE.
- Demonstrated capacity to work safely and as a team member.

Where it's located:
This position is based in Murwillumbah and can be directed to work from any Council work site.
