Carehero is seeking experienced and compassionate Disability Support Workers to provide high-quality attendant care and community support to an individual living with the long-term effects of a severe traumatic brain injury.
The participant resides in the Southern Highlands (Buxton area) and enjoys engaging in meaningful daily routines, therapy programs, and community-based activities.
About the Role
As a Carehero Support Worker, you’ll work closely with the participant, their family, and a multidisciplinary therapy team to deliver consistent, person-centred support that promotes safety, independence, and quality of life.
Your responsibilities include:
• Providing personal care, mobility supervision, and safe transfers
• Supporting participation in home-based exercise programs (e.g. tilt table, recumbent bike, walker)
• Encouraging independence in daily living and communication
• Supporting community participation, including public transport use
• Implementing safe manual handling practices.
• Accurately documenting shifts, progress notes, and incidents
Required Competencies & Experience
• Personal care assistance
• Mobility supervision and prompting (indoors and community)
• Safe transfers and equipment operation
• Support with structured home therapy/exercise programs
• Strong manual handling awareness and safety practices
• Reliable documentation and communication skills
Brain Injury–Specific Competencies:
• Experience supporting people with acquired or traumatic brain injury
• Effective communication support (verbal and non-verbal)
• Encouraging independence and providing genuine choice in daily activities
Qualifications & Requirements
• Certificate III (or higher) in Individual Support, Community Services, or Allied Health Assistance
• Current First Aid & CPR
• NDIS Worker Screening Check
• Working with Children Check
• Valid driver’s licence and reliable vehicle
• COVID-19 vaccination (as required under current guidelines)
