We are looking for a dedicated professional with leadership experience and a strong background in industrial and employee relations to join our team.

About the role

As a Senior Business Partner, you will be responsible for managing complex industrial relations matters through to resolution whilst ensuring the delivery of strategic and operational human resource solutions for our business units.

The role is also responsible for the day-to-day leadership of a team responsible for the delivery of effective People and Culture Services into allocated client group.

Key activities of this role include:

  • Build co-operative working relationships and strategic partnerships to deliver an effective business partnering approach
  • Day to day leadership of a business partnering team for assigned client group to support managers to effectively manage their staff
  • Provide consistent professional senior advice on complex awards, conditions of employment, employment legislation, and other People and Culture related matters
  • Manage complex employee and industrial relations matters through to resolution
  • Build capability through coaching and mentoring leaders at all layers on People and Culture related matters

To be successful in this role, you will have:

  • Degree qualification in Human Resources Management, Business Management or relevant field
  • Current class C drivers licence and ability to travel to other Council locations as part of the role
  • Extensive experience in a similar business partnering role within a unionised environment and working directly with senior management in a medium to large complex organisation
  • Significant experience in managing complex industrial and employee relations matters through to resolution

You will also have:

  • Proven experience in coaching and mentoring leaders including senior and executive leaders to strategically align people initiatives and programs
  • Significant experience in negotiation, and facilitation of conflict and confrontation resolution
  • Significant experience in working collaboratively with Union officials and delegates, embracing an interest-based bargaining philosophy
  • The ability to apply an advanced understanding of relevant employment legislation

Other important information

  • The commencing salary for this position is up to $129.9K. Central Coast Council also provides progression opportunities for employees to progress up to the maximum salary of 150.5K on completion of assessment of skills and performance plus 12% superannuation
  • We have a permanent full-time role available
  • This role will be able to access a 19-day month Rostered Day Off
  • We offer a hybrid work arrangement 3 days office or on site with up to 2 days work from home
  • This role is located at the Wyong Administration Building and is also required to attend other Council sites
  • A Vehicle Allowance or leaseback vehicle is provided in this role for official duties and private use.
