2. TITLE OR DESCRIPTION

Position Title: Cook Description: Prepares, seasons and cooks food in a dining or catering establishment.

3. ENGLISH LANGUAGE

This position requires a high level of proficiency in the English language, both spoken and written, to effectively communicate with staff, suppliers, and customers.

4. FULL-TIME POSITION ONLY

This is a full-time, ongoing position based in Jugiong, NSW.

5. OCCUPATION TASKS

Tasks Include:

·         Examining foodstuffs to ensure quality

·         Regulating temperatures of ovens, grills and other cooking equipment

·         Preparing and cooking food

·         Seasoning food during cooking

·         Portioning food, placing it on plates, and adding gravies, sauces and garnishes

·         Storing food in temperature-controlled facilities

·         Preparing food to meet special dietary requirements

·         May plan menus and estimate food requirements

·         May train other kitchen staff and apprentices

·         Prepares, seasons and cooks' food in a dining or catering establishment.

6. SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE

·         Minimum 3 years’ experience in a commercial kitchen or similar environment.

·         Strong knowledge of food preparation techniques and modern cooking methods.

·         Ability to work effectively in a team-oriented environment.

·         Attention to detail and commitment to maintaining food quality and consistency.

·         Understanding of hygiene and food safety regulations.

·         Ability to manage time efficiently and work under pressure during busy service periods.

7. QUALIFICATIONS

  • AQF Certificate III including at least two years of on-the-job training, or AQF Certificate IV in Commercial Cookery; OR
  • At least three years of relevant experience may substitute for formal qualifications.
  • Additional on-the-job training or relevant culinary certifications may be required.
