Job Description
The Opportunity
The Digital Content Officer is responsible for the creation, coordination, and maintenance of high-quality, engaging digital content across all Council platforms. The position ensures consistent messaging, enhances Council's reputation and brand, and supports the overall communications and engagement strategy to inform, consult, and involve the community.
To be successful, you will:
- Plan, write, edit, and produce a wide range of compelling digital content, including news articles, social media posts, website pages, e-newsletters, images, and basic video content, ensuring all content is accurate and aligns with Council's tone of voice and style guidelines.
- Contribute to building the positive brand through the development of high quality collateral for use at a variety of engagement opportunities.
- Manage and administer content on Council's digital platforms, including the Content Management System (CMS) for the website and various social media channel.
- Implement Search Engine Optimisation (SEO) strategies to improve the visibility and accessibility of online information and maximise reach.
- Monitor, track, and report on the performance of digital content and campaigns using analytics tools, providing data-driven insights and recommendations for improvement.
- Support the development and implementation of the social media strategy, policies, and guidelines, ensuring all online activities contribute to the positive positioning of Council.
- Liaise and collaborate effectively with internal departments, staff, and external suppliers (e.g., videographers) to proactively identify content opportunities and ensure cohesive communication across all channels.
- Provide guidance and training to staff on the use of digital communication tools and content practices as required.
- Undertake projects related to the communications functions of the organisation.
What you will Bring
- Excellent graphic design skills, with knowledge and experience in using Adobe Creative Suite of programs, and experience in finished art for printed marketing materials.
- Demonstrated experience in social media management, content creation, websites and other digital media platforms for marketing and promotional purposes.
- Experience with analytics tools (e.g., Google Analytics) to measure and report on digital performance.
- High-level written and verbal communication skills, with a portfolio demonstrating the ability to write for diverse audiences and platforms (web, social, print, speeches, etc.).
- Ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a team environment, managing multiple tasks and deadlines effectively.
- Proficient graphic design skills and experience with relevant software (e.g., Adobe Creative Suite, Canva).

Salary from $886.90 to $957.85 per week based on part time hours + 12 % super, depending on skills, experience and qualifications in accordance with Council's Salary System and the Local Government State Award.
