About the role
Small World Child Care is seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Child Care Assistant to join our team in Carrara, QLD 4211. This is a part-time position that plays a vital role in providing safe, nurturing, and engaging care for children in our facility. As a Child Care Assistant, you will work alongside experienced educators to create a supportive and stimulating environment where children can learn, play, and develop. This role is essential to the day-to-day operations of our service and contributes significantly to the wellbeing and development of the children in our care.
Key responsibilities

Assist in supervising and caring for children in accordance with our centre's policies, procedures, and duty of care requirements

Support educators in planning and delivering age-appropriate activities that promote learning, creativity, and physical development

Maintain a clean, safe, and hygienic environment throughout the centre, including play areas, bathrooms, and learning spaces

Assist with meal preparation and feeding, ensuring dietary requirements and allergies are carefully managed

Help with personal care tasks including nappy changing, toileting, and assisting children with getting dressed

Communicate effectively with parents and carers regarding their child's day, achievements, and any concerns

Support educators in implementing behaviour guidance strategies that are positive and developmentally appropriate

Contribute to maintaining incident and accident records and reporting procedures

Participate in team meetings and professional development opportunities

Maintain confidentiality and uphold professional standards at all times
What we're looking for

A current or working towards a Certificate III in Early Childhood Education and Care or equivalent qualification

Current Working with Children Check clearance (or willingness to obtain one)

Current First Aid and CPR certification (or willingness to complete training)

Genuine passion for working with children and supporting their development and wellbeing

Strong communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively with educators, families, and colleagues

Physical stamina and ability to engage in active play and physical activities with children

Reliability and punctuality, with the ability to manage a flexible schedule

Understanding of child safety, health, and hygiene practices

Ability to remain calm and patient in a busy environment
