Step Into a Strategic Leadership Role That Matters

This role is based in Richmond, VIC. Candidates applying from interstate must be willing to relocate independently.

Odyssey Victoria is looking for a full-time Executive Manager – Community Programs, based in Richmond, VIC, with regular travel to your program areas across metropolitan Melbourne and regional locations, including Geelong.

Reporting to the CEO, this is a key executive leadership role responsible for overseeing a diverse portfolio of community-based alcohol and other drug (AOD) programs, consortium partnerships, and strategic initiatives across Victoria.  You'll lead an experienced team of Operational and Clinical Managers and oversee critical sites including Barwon, Northwest Melbourne, Southwest Melbourne, SECADA and GVADS consortium programs.

More specifically, your responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Leading the delivery of high-quality AOD services that achieve positive outcomes for individuals and communities
  • Contributing to organisational strategy, policy, and service development as part of the executive leadership team
  • Coaching, supporting, and guiding managers to build collaborative, high-performing teams
  • Strengthening consistency and integration across geographically dispersed services
  • Identifying and progressing funding opportunities, partnerships, and service growth initiatives
  • Overseeing budgets, financial performance, and resource allocation across programs
  • Ensuring strong governance, compliance, and accountability across programs
  • Representing and promoting Odyssey Victoria in government, sector, and community forums

Is This You?

To thrive in this role, you will bring a relevant qualification in health, social work, psychology, nursing, allied health, or health administration. You’ll also have a strong background in the AOD, mental health, or related human services sectors, and experience working in not-for-profit leadership.

You are a grounded and emotionally intelligent leader who builds strong relationships and brings people along the journey. You communicate openly, listen with intent, and create an environment where people feel supported, respected, and able to contribute.

You are comfortable navigating complexity and change, and you lead with both empathy and clarity — supporting your teams while also setting expectations and maintaining accountability.

You will also demonstrate:

  • Strong financial, contract, and operational management capability
  • Experience leading across multi-site or regional service delivery environments
  • Confidence working within partnership or consortium models
  • Knowledge of contemporary AOD and integrated care approaches
  • The ability to engage effectively with internal and external stakeholders

Bonus points if you have:

  • Experience across diverse or multi-catchment service environments
  • Existing relationships within government or community service sectors
  • Experience contributing to service development, growth, or system-level initiatives
