About the role

Cowboys Leagues Club Limited is seeking a Team Shop Assistant to join our retail team in Townsville, QLD. This is a full-time position based at our premises, where you will be instrumental in delivering exceptional customer service and managing day-to-day shop operations. As Team Shop Assistant, you will play a vital role in representing our brand, driving sales, and creating a welcoming environment for our customers. This position is essential to maintaining the high standards of retail excellence that our club is known for.

Key responsibilities

• Providing outstanding customer service to all visitors, assisting with product selection and answering inquiries about merchandise

• Processing sales transactions accurately using point-of-sale systems, handling cash, card payments and reconciling the till at the end of shifts

• Maintaining a clean, organised and visually appealing shop environment, including arranging displays and ensuring stock is properly presented

• Receiving, checking and stocking merchandise, managing inventory levels and assisting with stock takes as required

• Identifying customer needs and making relevant product recommendations to maximise sales opportunities

• Handling customer enquiries and complaints professionally, resolving issues in a courteous manner or escalating appropriately

• Operating within company policies and procedures, including health and safety requirements and security protocols

• Assisting with promotional activities and marketing initiatives to drive customer engagement and sales

What we're looking for

• Previous experience in a retail environment, demonstrating strong customer service skills and a proven track record of delivering positive customer interactions

• Proficiency in operating electronic point-of-sale systems and basic IT literacy

• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to engage effectively with diverse customer groups

• Strong numeracy skills and accuracy in handling cash and financial transactions

• Ability to work as part of a team, maintaining a positive attitude and supporting colleagues in a collaborative environment

• Physical capability to lift stock, stand for extended periods and perform repetitive tasks throughout a shift

• Reliability, punctuality and a professional approach to work

• Product knowledge or passion for sports and the NRL community is highly desirable
