THE ROLE

Reporting to the relevant Division Executive, Executive Director & CEO, the Commercial Operations Manager will oversee the coordination and day-to-day operational performance of Bird in Hand’s Tasmanian venues and events, including:

  • Fine dining, casual dining, kiosk operations and bespoke events at the Royal Tasmanian Botanical Gardens in Hobart

  • Function venues in Hobart, Waterton Hall in West Tamar Valley, and Seymour on the east coast

  • Curated branded events across all locations

This role will work closely with venue-based managers and key operational stakeholders to support the delivery of premium guest experiences aligned with the Bird in Hand brand.

A strong appreciation for Tasmanian culture will be essential as you champion outstanding Tasmanian wine, food and experiences. You will reflect the excellence of Bird in Hand’s LVN Restaurant while showcasing Tasmania’s distinctive produce, art and natural beauty.

The role will support operational consistency, financial performance and team leadership across multiple locations, with several operational leaders reporting into the position. 

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Coordinate operational requirements across all Tasmanian hospitality venues and events

  • Support venue leadership teams to ensure efficient day-to-day operations

  • Provide leadership and guidance to operational teams across hospitality and events

  • Monitor venue performance, budgets and revenue outcomes

  • Contribute to strategic initiatives that support growth across Tasmania

  • Drive exceptional customer experiences across wine, food, accommodation and events

  • Build and maintain strong relationships with suppliers, partners and stakeholders

  • Work collaboratively with culinary, operations, events and accommodation teams to deliver premium experiences

  • Support recruitment, workforce planning and operational resourcing requirements

  • Act as liaison between head office in Woodside and the Tasmania team

The Royal Tasmanian Botanical Gardens will be your day-today work-base. Hours will include weekends and evenings, with some travel between sites and the occasional interstate travel. Hours will be based on a 40hr week, with any reasonable additional hours that may be worked by you, included, as part of your base salary.
