About the role
Capital Region Community Services is seeking a skilled and values-driven CRCS Connect Coordinator to lead and coordinate the central intake function for our Child, Youth and Family Services. This important role ensures children, young people and families receive timely, consistent and appropriate responses to referrals and requests for support.
As the first point of contact for families, young people and referrers, you will create a welcoming, trauma-informed and culturally safe intake experience. You will help connect people to the right service at the right time, while supporting clear pathways across CRCS’s Child, Youth and Family Services.
About you
You are an experienced, calm and highly organised professional who brings excellent judgement, emotional intelligence and strong coordination skills to complex service environments. You understand the importance of responsive intake, risk identification, warm referrals and accurate documentation, and you are confident working with families, young people, referrers and partner services.
You will be comfortable balancing service demand, eligibility, risk and program priorities while maintaining a person-centred, strengths-based and child-safe approach. You will also bring a commitment to continuous improvement, data integrity and service quality.
Key responsibilities
- Lead and coordinate the central intake function for CRCS Child, Youth and Family Services.
- Manage enquiries, referrals and requests for support in a timely, professional and trauma-informed manner.
- Undertake intake, screening, assessment, triage and referral processes to support appropriate service pathways.
- Assess eligibility, presenting needs and risk, escalating concerns in line with CRCS policies and procedures.
- Provide a welcoming, inclusive and culturally safe experience for children, young people, families and referrers.
- Coordinate warm referrals and support effective communication across internal programs and external service partners.
- Maintain accurate, timely and high-quality records to support service delivery, reporting and accountability.
- Monitor service demand, referral trends and access barriers to inform planning and continuous improvement.
- Contribute to service quality, data integrity, reporting and improvement initiatives across Child, Youth and Family Services.
What you will bring
- Experience in intake, assessment, triage, referral coordination or service navigation within community, family, youth, child, health, mental health or human services settings.
- Strong understanding of trauma-informed, culturally safe, child-safe and strengths-based practice.
- Must have Tertiary qualification in Social Work, Psychology, Human Services, Community Services, Counselling or a related discipline (or significant equivalent experience).
- Sound judgement and confidence identifying risk, vulnerability and service needs.
- Excellent communication skills, including the ability to engage respectfully with children, young people, families, carers, referrers and service partners.
- Strong coordination, prioritisation and problem-solving skills in busy service environment.
- High attention to detail and the ability to maintain accurate records, data and documentation.
- Ability to work collaboratively across teams and contribute to continuous improvement.
CRCS has zero tolerance for child abuse and is committed to ensuring the safety and wellbeing of all children and young people. All employees are required to comply with CRCS child safe policies, mandatory reporting requirements and relevant screening processes, including Working with Vulnerable People checks and Working with Children Check.
CRCSÂ also requires all employees to:
- Hold or be willing to obtain a satisfactory Working with Vulnerable People registration (ACT) and/or a Working with Children Check (NSW), and have these with them at all times whilst employed by CRCS.
- Undertake a National Criminal History Clearance by CRCS prior to commencing and every three years thereafter as a condition of employment. Employees are required to advise CRCS of any convictions that may effect their eligibility to work or perform the inherent requirements of their positionÂ
- Maintain full COVID-19 vaccination currency and provide evidence of their vaccinations to CRCS (sensitive information is kept private and in accordance with the Australian Privacy Principles) unless they are able to provide suitable evidence of a medical contraindication that prevents them from receiving this vaccine.
