Be Recruitment is seeking passionate and skilled Therapeutic Youth Workers to join a dedicated team delivering high-quality, trauma-informed care to children and young people with complex needs.

This role is within a residential care setting and requires candidates to hold a minimum Cert IV qualification in Community Services, Youth Work, or a related field – this is non-negotiable.

About the Role

As a Therapeutic Youth Worker, you will play a vital role in supporting children and young people who have experienced significant trauma, abuse, and neglect. Working as part of a multidisciplinary team, you will:

  • Provide consistent therapeutic care, grounded in trauma-informed practice

  • Model positive, pro-social behaviours to help young people develop healthy relationships and life skills

  • Create a safe, nurturing, and structured home environment

  • Support young people in understanding and managing trauma-related behaviours

  • Encourage engagement in educational, recreational, and community activities

  • Assist with daily routines including personal care, meals, school attendance, and appointments

  • Maintain accurate records and incident reports in line with organisational procedures

Key Requirements

  • Cert IV or higher in Community Services, Youth Work or similar – mandatory

  • Minimum six months of paid experience working as a Therapeutic Youth Worker – mandatory

  • International Police Check if you have lived overseas for more than 12 months – mandatory

  • Full NSW Driver’s Licence

  • Current First Aid and CPR certification

  • Valid Working with Children Check (WWCC)

  • Willingness to undergo a National Police Check

  • COVID-19 vaccination or valid medical exemption

  • Foundational Elements of Therapeutic Care Training

  • Joint Protocol Training for Residential Workers

  • Availability to work a rotating roster, including days, evenings, weekends, and sleepovers
