Position Information

Penrith Valley School (PVS) draws students from a variety of areas throughout Greater Western Sydney. The school fosters a strong culture of high expectations and positive engagement that serves a diverse community of student families and caregivers. The school population of 49 students presents with a range of complex emotional, behavioural and sensory needs and includes 50% Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students.

The school employs a dedicated and skilled staff who deliver effective evidence-based programs to enhance academic and wellbeing outcomes for Stages 3, 4, 5, and 6.  Targeted opportunities to improve literacy, and numeracy are part of everyday school. Positive engagement and individual growth are supported by a diverse range of well-being programs.

Selection Criteria

1. Approval to teach special education and/or experience teaching students with emotional disturbance (primary and secondary) and behaviour difficulties.

2. Demonstrated capacity to work collaboratively to plan, deliver and report on highly differentiated quality teaching and learning programs that ensure academic growth

3. Demonstrated classroom management skills that support the learning, behavioural and well-being needs of a range of students.

4. Demonstrated knowledge and commitment to the Department's Aboriginal Education Policies.


Conditions

An unconditional full approval to teach is a requirement. If you do not hold a full approval to teach with the NSW Department of Education, you are required to commence the application process at the same time as you apply for this teaching opportunity.
