Primary objective
Under the direction of the Operations Manager, undertake the day-to-day activities required to maintain the Juno Skills
Centre in conjunction with all education and practical programs offered at the training facility.
Context statement
The Juno Skills Centre is a 250-hectare training facility based 10km east of Tennant Creek. Juno Skills Centre is an
operational farm set up to simulate real agricultural operations, such as livestock management and agrifood production. Juno
has appropriate facilities to host the delivery of nationally accredited vocational training programs in various industry fields
and is available for use across the region for residential training blocks.
Key duties and responsibilities
1. Undertake day to day activities at Juno Skills Centre, including livestock management, fencing and general maintenance.
2. Undertake the upkeep and maintenance of the Juno Skills Centre greenhouse and orchid. Operate and maintain farm
machinery, equipment and assets.
3. Assist with general duties including maintenance of infrastructure, operating and maintaining machinery and equipment.
4. Assist with collecting and recording research data and maintaining records.
5. Be familiar with and adhere to safe work practices.
Selection criteria
Essential
1. Demonstrated experience with animal husbandry, monitoring and managing pasture, weed and land management
practices.
2. Knowledge of and experience with farm equipment operation and maintenance;
3. Proven experience in station maintenance including fencing, welding and the operation and maintenance of farm
machinery.
4. Ability to work and reside as part of a team in a remote location and under difficult environmental conditions with limited
supervision.
5. A sound understanding of safe work practices around machinery, livestock, farming and workshops.
Desirable
1. Hold a current HR NT drivers licence and drive a 4WD vehicle.
2. Hold a ChemCert or SmarTrain Certificate or have the ability to obtain and maintain this qualification.
Further information
The successful applicant must have no significant criminal record and must have a Working with Children Clearance or the
ability to obtain prior to commencement. The successful applicant will also need to obtain an up to date First Aid certificate.
A medical may be required to confirm the applicant’s fitness for the physical aspects of this position.
