The North Australian Pastoral Company (NAPCo) was founded in 1877 and is one of Australia's leading beef cattle companies, managing over 6.1 million hectares, largest single herd in the world and home to Five Founders Beef. NAPCo employs approximately 220 staff operating across Queensland and the Northern Territory, with 15 cattle stations, a Depot in Mount Isa, a Feedlot and Farm in the Darling Downs and an office in Brisbane's CBD.
The Wainui Feedlot has an 18,000 head capacity, feed rations are mixed on-site using grain processed through a state-of-the-art feed mill. A 4,600 hectare dry-land and irrigated farming enterprise also operates on the property. Located between Dalby and Toowoomba, the Wainui Feedlot has a reputation for staff retention, tidiness and operational excellence.
About The Role
Reporting directly to the Feedlot Operations Manager, you will be joining the team as a Feedlot Hand. This role will support the operations in a variety of tasks, primarily around driving feed truck, maintenance, and machinery operation.
Day To Day Duties Include
Driving the feed truck to deliver feed to cattleOperating loader to load commodities into the feed truckMaintenance work consisting of pen cleaning, pen maintenance and general feedlot maintenanceOperating steam flake mill facilitiesMaintaining mill areas and commodities shed in a clean and hygienic stateRecord mill activities, data entry and daily monitoring of feeding
Ideally the successful candidate will have/be:
A current manual driver's licenseExperience in machinery operations (loader, bobcat, prime mover, side tipper, excavator) and associated qualifications will be highly regarded but not essentialMust be able to work in a teamFeedlot experience not required, training will be providedGood verbal communication skills and be reliable, honest and a hardworking with a willingness to learn.
